Breathe Big

A blog by author Kate Kerry Spencer

From changing a diaper to changing the world, being present for the people, places and causes that matter most to us becomes simpler when our minds are focused and hearts are light.

We are each gifted with the internal mechanism that makes mindful presence possible: our own breath.

In this blog, you’ll find ways to live, love and breathe big.

And, as it turns out, it's never too late to take the breath that sets you free.

Smoke: A Story of Love, Lies and Cigarettes by Kate Kerry Spencer

A Memoir

By Kate Kerry Spencer

Smoke is the story of fatal consolations--tobacco, denial and deceit--and the second chances that can come to us in the most unlikely places. For this mother and daughter it was a rehab center where the two women wrestled with cigarettes, scrambled brains and each other--and in the process, found the long way back to love.

I’m a Pacific Northwest writer, editor and publisher, which means I need the rain-soaked, sun-drenched, snow-deep, river-rugged beauty of this singular place on the planet. It feeds my work, inspires my dreams, quiets my mind and brings me back to center like a long hike with an old friend. Yep, it’s really that sweet a place.  No matter where you live, the sanity and the solace of the natural world is within you and as close as the next breath. Breathe Big and you’ll find it. Let’s take that breath together.
